Bury me, my Love presents itself as a Text Messaging Adventure game, immersing players in the story of Nour, a determined Syrian migrant striving to reach Europe. Communicating solely through a messaging app, Nour's husband Majd offers guidance and support as she undertakes this treacherous journey.

The title of the game, "Bury me, my love," carries a poignant meaning in Syrian culture: a phrase that expresses the desire for loved ones to take care and continue living until you can reunite. This phrase takes on even greater significance as Majd imparts these words to Nour before her perilous voyage begins.

Developed as a collaborative effort between ARTE, the European cultural network, The Pixel Hunt, and Figs, Bury me, my Love combines compassionate storytelling with an innovative gameplay format.

A game in an instant messaging app

As players step into the role of Majd, they engage in conversations with Nour within the familiar setting of a messaging app reminiscent of WhatsApp. Through text messages, exchanging emojis, photos, selfies, and sharing relevant links, players become fully immersed in the story.

Multiple narrative routes to discover

By delving into the instant messages between Majd and Nour and choosing how to respond, players influence Nour's path and help her overcome the numerous challenges she faces. With an extensive number of locations to explore and 19 potential different endings, Bury me, my Love beautifully illustrates how player choices shape the story.

Based on real-life events

Bury me, my Love serves as a "reality-inspired game," drawing inspiration directly from actual events. The game's premise stems from an article by Le Monde journalist Lucie Soullier, recounting the story of Dana, a courageous Syrian woman who fled her homeland and now resides in Germany.
